Description:
The 2007 Pep Rally for Life and Tailgate is provided by the Love Yourself Take Care of Yourself health initiative and its South Florida alliance of community partners. The event will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. at the Joseph Caleb Center, 5400 N.W. 22nd Avenue, Miami, and will offer free health screenings, educational classes and live radio remotes featuring 103.5 The Beat’s Steve Harvey Morning Show, Stellar Award Winning AM 1490’s WMBM Morning Glory Show, and News Talk 1080’s morning show with James T. and special appearances with special apperances by the 2 Live Stews.

Description:
Festivities begin with a 2.5 run/walk through historic Overtown. Then join teams consisting of students, teachers and alumni from the Booker T. Washington Sr. High School, in collaboration with local chefs and nutritionists will compete in the Overtown Diet Cook Off featuring traditional Overtown food with a healthy twist. Participate in health screenings, live music and more.

The race begins and finishes at North Beach Park located at the intersection of Sheridan and A1A.

Description:
This race is designed for all skill levels and ages. All participants registered by December 31, 2006 are guaranteed a race day t-shirt and medal upon completion. All proceeds from the race will go the Share Our Strength’s nationally recognized Operation Frontline nutrition classes to South Florida families.

‘Mission to Health’ Launch

Pastors and Community Leaders Prayer Breakfast

Mission to Health enrollment and pre–screenings will be offered for those who wish to participate. Enrolled participants will receive a free cardiovascular risk factor screening as well as a health risk assessment including one-on-one counseling on the results. The focus of the initiative is to educate the public on how to reduce risks for heart disease, diabetes and obesity through health lifestyle choices. Participants will also receive a Kick Off to Better Health Welcome Prize Pack and other incentives throughout the 12-week program. Collaborative partners will offer educational information for the community.

Description:
The Florida Heart Research Institute is partnering with the Consortium for a Healthier Miami Dade, the Florida Department of Agriculture, WMBM AM 1490, Mt Tabor Missionary Baptist Church and the NFL's "Super Bowl XLI Kickoff to Better Health Initiative" to launch 'Mission to Health' - a 12-week chronic disease prevention program for the Pan African community.

The kick off will feature a live DJ, free health screenings from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. All attendees will be eligible to ENTER A DRAWING TO WIN TWO (2) TICKETS TO SUPER BOWL XLI.
